Nick Jonas has got the internet Burnin Up – but not in the way he intended.
The pop singer and Jonas Brother was called out on Tuesday for appearing to endorse the polarizing entrepreneur Elon Musk on social media.
The Tesla CEO replied to a post on X that pointed out the company’s supposedly good financial situation, after previous articles that predicted a downturn for the car manufacturer and clean energy company. “Tesla is up 100% since Donald Trump won!” the Tuesday post read.
In response, Musk wrote, “My, how the tables have turned! 😂” and included a GIF of the Jonas Brothers picking up a table and rotating it inside a nondescript room.
Jonas reposted Musk’s virtual birthday greeting in an X post of his own, adding, “Take us to the Year 3000,” a nod to the Jonas Brothers’ 2007 hit of the same name.
While the post received positive comments from some of the users, the conversation with Musk was not well received by most of the fans.
Musk, who also owns the social media platform X, has been in the news in the last few months because of his endorsement of President-elect Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign and his appointment as the co-chair of Trump’s proposed Department of Government Efficiency. He donated over a quarter of a billion dollars to campaign committees for Trump’s presidential campaign.
“Tweeting at Elon Musk is definitely a choice,” X user @BellJson99415 posted.
Haters Don’t Spare Nick Jonas And Target Him For Posting A Picture With Elon Musk
Some of the users, however, took their time in the comments section to condemn Jonas’ post, assuming the pop star is a supporter of Musk and Trump, the ally of the latter.
“Is this a Trump post?! @priyankachopra get your man,” @super_spooks said, referring to Jonas’s wife, actress Priyanka Chopra.
Jonas did not reveal which side he was supporting in the most recent presidential election but he supported Joe Biden via his social media platforms after the latter’s win in 2020.
While it is unclear what the “Jealous” singer wanted to achieve with Tuesday’s post, fans were not happy with the Musk shoutout.
“Delete this. now. this man is horrible and even if this was meant as just a joke, it’s not funny,” @ktcontratto said.
‘Hey, you are supporting Elon here and before that you were watching Broadway!’ Haha, Oof man, really bad timing,” @ItsJoshCanfield said (Jonas is set to star in a 2025 production of “The Last Five Years”). The Broadway community, we are all the people that Elon, along with his maga bestie, wants to shut up. I was in auditions to understudy you, so glad I didn’t get it.
“He’s gonna take us 3000 years into the past,” @mrbombastic2401 said. “Just look at the people he supports, be better Nick.”
