Second-grader Dials 911 To Report Shooting At Wisconsin School, Police Chief Reveals

Authorities in Wisconsin reported that a seven-year-old student in second grade made a 911 call to report the shooting at a private religious school that claimed the lives of two people and left six others injured.

“I’m going to let that soak in for a minute,” Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said at a news conference Monday night after the deadly attack at Abundant Life Christian School. “A second-grade student called 911 at 10:57 a.m. to report a shooting at school.”

Police and other emergency services responded to the call within five minutes and discovered a teenage student and a teacher dead, according to Barnes. The shooter had already shot herself and died on the way to the hospital, Barnes added.

In the shooting, five students and one teacher were injured. Two of the students were taken to the hospital in critical condition but are now stable. The others had injuries that were not fatal according to Barnes.

Barnes also confirmed that the shooting took place during a study hall period with students from different grades. The school is a K-12 school that is home to approximately 390 students, as stated in the website of Abundant Life.

The shooter was named as Natalie Rupnow who also used the name Samantha according to Barnes.
