Suspect Arrested In String Of At Least 9 Stabbing Attacks In Seattle

A man has been arrested for the alleged attack that left a woman and eight men stabbed in Seattle over two days – five of them on Friday afternoon, according to police.

‘This was apparently one person for 38 hours of time going around attacking people at random,’ Deputy Chief Eric Barden said at the scene on Friday. The stabbings happened on Friday afternoon in a roughly four-block area in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District.

A description of the suspect was given by witnesses and the officers located him and Arrested him, police added. Stomach A police report said that a weapon was recovered from the suspect who was arrested and a knife was found to be protruding from one of the victims.

Four of the victims, all male, were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and one victim was stabilized on the scene and released.

CBS News reported that a hospital source said two of the victims were in critical condition while the third was in serious condition on Friday evening.

Barden said police believe the man arrested in connection with Friday’s stabbings is also involved in at least four other stabbings which occurred since Thursday morning.

He mentioned similar suspect descriptions and the nature of the attacks as being random but said that the investigation is still ongoing.

Chinatown attacks on Thursday began when a 52-year-old woman was found with multiple injuries inflicted by a sharp object, according to police.

On Thursday afternoon, police said a 32-year-old man was found after being stabbed multiple times and at about 8 p.m. a 37-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in the back.

On Friday morning, police responding to an assault call discovered a 53-year-old man bleeding heavily from a neck wound. Officers traced a blood trail to a nearby doorway and attempted to use police dogs to track the suspect, but the effort was unsuccessful.

“It’s my understanding that everyone is alive,” Barden said about the victims later on Friday.

In a separate incident, police reported a 10th stabbing on Thursday night during a cellphone robbery. The attacker forcibly opened a vehicle door and attempted to stab a 60-year-old man in the chest.

The victim managed to block the strike but was cut on his hand. Authorities have not confirmed whether this attack is linked to the ongoing series of random stabbings.
